Jewelry Care
How to maintain your jewelry
Gold, diamond, and gemstone jewelry are precious items that deserve proper care to preserve their beauty and shine over time. Each material has specific characteristics and requires special attention to avoid damage, scratches, or loss of brilliance.
1. Care and maintenance of gold
Gold is a durable noble metal, but it can scratch or lose its luster if not treated with care.
Avoid contact with chemicals: Perfumes, creams, detergents, and cleaning products can tarnish gold. Wear your jewelry after applying cosmetics and lotions.
Remove jewelry during daily activities: To prevent scratches or dents, it is advisable to remove rings and bracelets before doing housework, sports, or manual activities.
Cleaning gold: Soak your jewelry in a solution of warm water and mild soap for 15-20 minutes. Scrub gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush, rinse with clean water, and dry with a microfiber cloth.
2. Care and maintenance of diamonds
Although diamonds are the hardest stone in the world, they can accumulate dirt and lose their brilliance due to residue of greasy products or skin oils.
Avoid touching diamonds frequently: Skin oils create a film on the surface, reducing the stone's brightness.
Cleaning diamonds: Soak the jewelry in warm water with a little mild dish soap. After 15 minutes, clean with a soft-bristled toothbrush, focusing on the areas of the setting where dirt accumulates. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
Proper Storage: Store diamond jewelry separately from other jewelry to avoid scratches, preferably in velvet bags or lined boxes.
3. Care and maintenance of precious gemstones
Precious stones (such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and aquamarine) require special care, as some are more delicate and porous than others.
Caution with chemicals: Some gemstones, such as emeralds, are particularly sensitive to skincare products and detergents. Avoid contact with perfumes, alcohol, and lotions to prevent damage to the stone's surface.
Cleaning gemstones: Soak your jewelry in warm water with mild soap, scrub gently with a soft cloth or an ultra-soft bristle brush, and rinse with clean water. Avoid ammonia or ultrasonic cleaners, which could damage delicate stones.
Protect stones from impacts: Some gemstones, such as emeralds, are more fragile and can chip more easily if knocked. Remove your jewelry before engaging in physical activity or manual labor.
Opals: Be careful with water and heat! Opals are highly porous and delicate stones; they should not come into contact with water to prevent cracking and discoloration. Furthermore, intense heat and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can dehydrate them and cause microfractures. Store them in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources.
4. General storage tips
Store each piece of jewelry separately: To avoid scratches, keep your jewelry in separate compartments inside a jewelry box, or use velvet bags or lined boxes.
Avoid humidity: Store your jewelry in a dry place, away from heat and humidity. If possible, you can use silica gel packets to absorb moisture and prevent tarnishing.
Get periodic checks: If you wear your jewelry frequently, have a professional jeweler perform an annual check-up to check the condition of the stones, settings, and clasps.
By following these precautions, your gold, diamond and gemstone jewelry will maintain its beauty and value over time.

Plated metal jewelry (silver, bronze, etc.) is made with the highest quality plating and electroplating, designed to offer brilliance and elegance. However, since these are thin coatings, it is normal for them to undergo natural deterioration over time, depending on wear and tear and type of use.
The lifespan of plating or electroplating varies depending on several factors, including skin pH, contact with chemicals, and exposure to humid environments or corrosive substances. To keep your jewelry shining for as long as possible, follow these simple care and maintenance rules.
1. Avoid contact with water and chemicals
Water, especially if it contains chlorine or salt, can accelerate the deterioration of plating. It is advisable to remove your jewelry before:
- Washing your hands
- Taking a shower or bath
- Swimming in the pool or in the sea
- Washing dishes or using harsh detergents
Perfumes, creams, body oils, and cleaning products can also alter the jewelry's coating. We recommend applying these products before putting your jewelry on to minimize contact with substances that could damage it.
2. Correct storage
When you're not wearing it, it's important to store your jewelry properly to protect it from tarnish and scratches. Here are some tips:
- Store them in a dry place , away from humidity and heat sources.
- Use velvet bags, lined boxes, or resealable bags to protect them.
- Place a silica gel sachet in the package to absorb moisture and prevent deterioration.
3. Avoid rubbing and impacts
Friction is a major cause of plating fading. To protect them:
- Avoid wearing jewelry during sports or manual labor.
- Be careful not to let them come into contact with rough surfaces or other metal objects that could scratch them.
- Put them on after getting dressed to avoid them getting caught in fabrics or damaged by contact with zips and metal buttons.
4. Gentle cleaning
To remove dirt and sweat residue, clean your jewelry carefully:
- Use a soft, dry cloth, preferably microfibre or specifically designed for cleaning precious metals
- If necessary, use a cotton ball slightly dampened with warm water and mild soap, drying immediately with a dry cloth.
- Avoid aggressive detergents, stiff brushes and prolonged immersion in liquids, which could damage the plating.
5. Wear them with care
To preserve your jewelry over time:
- Put them on after getting dressed , to avoid tangling with fabrics.
- Remove them before going to sleep , as rubbing with sheets and pillows can accelerate wear of the plating.
- Avoid wearing them in excessively humid environments or exposed to sudden changes in temperature.
